Facebook

When I first heard about the "blogger" assignment I figured it would be a breeze. I have had a xanga since highschool, and when I first started college I created a facebook. The facebook account that I had got deleted do to lack of use I believe, so I re-created one over the summer. Xanga or Facebook or even myspace isn't for everyone. It tends to either really attract people, or people just hate it. I love it because it's relatively informal. Everyone has those friends that they're not very close to and these social websites are the best way to keep intouch, or tell someone you're thinking of them. It reminds everyone on a persons "friends list" when their birthday is everyday for about a week in advanced. Many people do seem to have some issues over privacy though. From Internet stalkers to pervs you don't know what's out there! Thankfully every site, that I'm familiar with at least, has some sort of privacy option. In Xanga when you write a post you have the option to make it "private" [where only you can see it] "selected" [where only your friends can see it] or it can be "public" where anyone who stumbles on the page can read it. In facebook, you can only see their profile if they add you to your friends list. I actually like facebook better, but myspace is fun to play with too!

Summary

I was a bit confused by this. A summary about the blog it'self, or the Library 2.0? At this point, anything could help us! our computer system is down!

YouTube

Being one of the younger generations here at BB, i've been familiar with You Tube and other video upload sights for a long time now. Great for a good laugh, or if you missed something, or even if you just want to see a music video for your favorite song/band.

Technology!!!

I'm a strong believer that like times before us we need to keep pushing to advance society. I'm not going to push my beliefs on the way society is though, because I'm positive i could type for a good 5 hours on the subject, and many people would probably disagree with me on many regards. If anyone does want to know, these are the types of conversations that truly interest me and i can talk anyones ear off. Make sure to bring a lunch. Nothing like a good debate! Anyways, back to technology. I suppose on thing that everyone can relate to is driving. Everyone has to drive to work, drive to get groceries, or drive to get.. well, wherever you need to be! But I'm sure that everyone has been the victim of a horrible driver. The ones that are just generally unaware of what's going on around them, making them a PAIN to other drivers that just want to get to where they're going! INTRODUCING FLYING CARS!! yes, they've been working on these puppy's for awhile. Many A-list celebs actually already have put down payments, or even just payed for one already. Michael Jackson being one of them! As far as i know they're actually not as expensive as you would thing, for a flying car that is. It'll be so novel to be able to avoid everyone on the road. I just want to get where I'm going! Unfortunately there is so much to do regarding flying cars. (laws! safety!speed!) It'll take awhile, but it is a step in the right directions.

Who needs mini digital photo carrying wallets? BRING ON THE FLYING CARS!!!

Library 2.0

I couldn't find a link on ihcpl to where Library 2.0 was so i googled it. Seems that it's just much more advanced. Moving forward and advancing technology is always something that everyone, not just librarians should strive for.

Today in general

Our computer system, more specifically horizon, has been down since Thursday i believe. Although it's fun to joke around about how "easy" it is for everyone right now, it is going to hurt on Monday, (assuming it's up by then) We got an e-mail that it may be up by around noon if the check (test?) goes right. This blog wasn't exactly assigned, but it's defiantly something that is going to affect us pretty bad in the following weeks. We were almost caught up! We've been missing shelvers and it's made the amount of books a huge amount, but hopefully we'll hire some new people. I'm so scared of Monday.

Hopefully we can close for a day or something so we can all pitch in and help get these things sorted.

Library Elf

Working at the library definantly has it's purks. When books come in for you, all you have to do is walk by the 'staff hold' shelf on your way in a briefly check and see if anything is there for you. Once again, I have failed at creating an account. I figure I must have the worst luck ever when it comes to these things! First the whole blog frustrates me to the point where I pretty much gave up on it, and now that I'm working hard on catching up and trying out all these things and they're not working!!! I'm cursed i tell you!

LibraryThing

Unfortunately, librarything was under routine maintenance and i was unable to set up an account with them. I'll have to come back and edit this post so that I can link my account to here. I have a few books in mind that i can post.

Meez

I enjoyed creating a Meez. I felt that although it doesn't look exactly, it looks pretty close. We all get frustrated at the library. Thankfully my Meez can do what I can't.

RSS madness

Thanks to some friendly people here at Barbara bush they got me back on track with the blog. Although one might think that I'm more computer literate than most of the older generations here, this is by far the most confusing "blog" type thing I've fiddled around with. I got a bit frustrated at it, but things are firing up again.

I hate subscribing to things, but I did make an account with Bloglines. I tend to get any news from televison or the parentals. When I do get on the internet, i enjoy surfing the net. Yes, actually going to different pages. I understand the concept of bloglines, but I can't say that it's me. I'm sure other people will benifit from its handyness though :]
