Week 10- The End

ihcpl was really cool! There was a lot of stuff that I learned through it like the overdrive application. Making my own virtual self on Meez also was really neat. As was the Picnik photo editing site. Using that can save you money on buying Photoshop or some other editing software sice picnik is free! It was awesome to experiment with all these different tools!

Week 9 - Downloadable Media

There was lots of cool stuff on Overdrive. It's awesome that you can burn most of them onto CDs if you want to use them later on. When I first started looking at it though I was kind of confused and it took me some time to figure out everything. As soon as I did though it becomes pretty easy. Loading times took long though so if you don't have a fast internet connection and want to use it from home it may not be the best tool for you

Week 9 - Podcasts

I own an iPod and part of the service iTunes offers is free podcasts. You can find podcasts on almost anything you want. Sports, video games, politics, the outdoors, etc... You can also subscribe to as many as you want and it'll update for you. Of the 3 podcasts directories available through iHCPL I thought Yahoo was the best. Their search enginge gave me the best results. The other 2 aren't bad either though. Podcasts are a must whether you own an MP3 player or not!

Week 9 YouTube

One of the greatest internet tools/websites of all times. Any time you are bored at home and cant' find anything else to do, just start looking for videos on YouTube and you can make the time fly!

Here's one of the most popular videos on YouTube with over 64 million views and counting. Makes you want to get up and dance!

Week 8 Web based applications

Zoho reminds me a lot like excel and other microsoft office programs. This could be handy in the future, but because of my familiarity with Office, I may still prefer to use that one instead. I could see certain instances where Zoho is useful though

Facebook

When I first heard about the "blogger" assignment I figured it would be a breeze. I have had a xanga since highschool, and when I first started college I created a facebook. The facebook account that I had got deleted do to lack of use I believe, so I re-created one over the summer. Xanga or Facebook or even myspace isn't for everyone. It tends to either really attract people, or people just hate it. I love it because it's relatively informal. Everyone has those friends that they're not very close to and these social websites are the best way to keep intouch, or tell someone you're thinking of them. It reminds everyone on a persons "friends list" when their birthday is everyday for about a week in advanced. Many people do seem to have some issues over privacy though. From Internet stalkers to pervs you don't know what's out there! Thankfully every site, that I'm familiar with at least, has some sort of privacy option. In Xanga when you write a post you have the option to make it "private" [where only you can see it] "selected" [where only your friends can see it] or it can be "public" where anyone who stumbles on the page can read it. In facebook, you can only see their profile if they add you to your friends list. I actually like facebook better, but myspace is fun to play with too!

Summary

I was a bit confused by this. A summary about the blog it'self, or the Library 2.0? At this point, anything could help us! our computer system is down!
